Jason Savage // Testimony
I started attending Cornerstone church after moving to the Portage Lakes area in 2005. I was first introduced to the church through the Browne family, who were my neighbors at the time. I was dealing with alcohol addiction issues and was looking for somewhere to belong.
During these struggles, I started attending the 9AM service at Cornerstone on Killian Rd. Shortly after, I began serving others by helping to give food out to the community through City Lights, and the influence of the Oberlin and Benak families.
I followed Cornerstone to the elementary school on Manchester Rd., and was happy to help out when we were blessed with our new building. Throughout these transitions, I have continued to give my time in serving as much as I can. From setting up the nativity scene during the holidays, and unloading food trucks, to participating in food giveaways, and helping out on Sunday mornings as an MP on our Connections Team.
Serving people in the community in this way has brought me so much joy. It has taught me to be humble and kind despite my own struggles, including my major back surgery and other medical issues I have dealt with throughout the years.
Pastor Brenda has been one of the most influential people in my life. She has shown me that I am not alone. Through Cornerstone Church, and Pastor Brenda, I have truly found a family, and I am so excited for the days to come and to see the future unfold for me and for this church family. I am grateful to call Cornerstone Church my home and am excited as I continue to move closer to God every day.
