Summer at the Movies | The Lion King

All truth is God’s truth, and sometimes the movies present truths straight from God’s heart. This summer we will look at four of the year’s biggest movies and four vital life lessons we can glean from them that help us live the life God designed us to have.

There will never be a way to recover from failure or heartbreak and have the life for which we long without remembering and living out who we really are.

Message Notes

The Lion King

Baptism is a profound statement of who we are.

As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on him.And a voice from heaven said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.”

Matthew 3:16-17

We Belong.
We are Loved.
God is pleased to be our Father.
Sometimes we get lost…we forget our identity.
We tink we are wat we look like, the we accomplish, what other people think our us, what others have done to us.
Sometimes we forget our identity because of what we have done
Remember who you are.

See what great love the Father has lavished upon us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are.

I John 3:1

Bottom Line:

Remember who you are.

Next Steps:

  1. When you remember who you are, you remember you have both privileges and responsibilities. When we face the past, we can influence the present. Who needs you?

  2. One of the reasons worship is so important is because it gives us a chance to remember who and whose we are. Commit to regular remembering and becoming who you are.
