The moment that you walk through the doors at Cornerstone Church, you belong here and can consider this place your church home. But if you’re interested in something more—in moving from convenience to significance—then Ministry Partnership is for you.

What is Ministry Partnership? It's a full investment in Cornerstone Church as your church, a place where you invest your time, talent, and treasure to accomplish our God-given mission of helping people find the Father, a family, and a fulfilling future.

You lead a cGroup. You give regular financial donations. You serve in the nursery, or with the Worship Team, or at the coffee station on Sundays. These are just a few examples of what Ministry Partnership looks like.

The Cornerstone mission and vision happens because Ministry Partners willingly give and serve, using their unique opportunities, skills, and resources to build the church.

In times past and at many other churches, this would be called “church membership.” But just as a birth certificates don’t make a strong family—it takes active investment to do so—being a vital, contributing Ministry Partner of the church requires something deeper than membership. It requires action, passion, and engagement.

FAQs

1. Is Ministry Partership really about the mission?

In the demands of week to week, and even day to day, ministry needs, it can be easy for churches to lose focus on the mission. Giving & Serving ends up being about filling a slot, meeting a need, performing a duty, or, in the worst-case scenario, it can become more about serving egos than about serving Christ. At Cornerstone, we are committed to keeping our mission central: Helping people find the Father, a family, and a fulfilling future. It’s bigger than any one of us. And we want to provide our Ministry Partners the opportunity to give their time, talent, and treasure to something bigger than themselves.

2. Are relationships heathy at Cornerstone?

Any community where people bring their true selves is going to get messy at times. Additionally, just about every organization of every type has toxic people in it. That said, no community should have better relationships than the local church. After all, our faith is based on a Savior who reconciled the world to himself, forgiving our sin. We have a Savior who came full of both grace and truth. We believe one of the greatest gifts church leadership can give to a congregation is to follow Christ’s example in these ways, so we are vigilant about cultivating healthy relationships at every level of participation within the body of Christ at Cornerstone.

3. Will serving help me grow spiritually?

In the best case scenario, Christian service should be a paradox of renewal: when we give our lives away, we find them. When we serve, we grow. To this end, we prioritize providing an environment in which spiritual growth can flourish. Your Ministry Partnership leaders will pray for you and with you, share in your journey, and encourage your heart. We can’t guarantee spiritual growth will happen, but we will create conditions in which it can easily happen.

4. Will you help me develop the skills I need?

In a word: Yes. Every person has been gifted by God and given time, talent, and treasure to invest. In our experience, people are highly capable and just need a little training to know how to master specific Ministry Partnership roles. (*To discover and develop your unique spiritual gifts we encourage you to check out our Life Journey Courses available during cGroup semesters.)

5. So, am I signing up for life?

Nope. We have Ministry Partnerships of all shapes and sizes at Cornerstone. And we openly discuss time-commitment and expectations at the start. Why don’t you try something for a season? Or serve with us for a semester/year? Or try it out for a month before you commit to a longer term role? Let’s talk. We’ll always work with you to accomplish the mission and vision together!

6. Will I be allowed to serve?

The short answer? Most likely! The long answer? We don’t have a specific policy that says: “This kind of person can or can’t be a Ministry Partner.” Instead, we handle each MP and serving opportunity on a case-by-case basis, not with a policy. And what we’re looking for most in a Ministry Partner, including skill or gifting, is the Fruit of the Spirit. So, are you working, or do you want to start working, with the Holy Spirit—faithfully, not perfectly—to allow Him to tangibly produce love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control in your life? If so, you can be assured: We have a place for you to make a difference! (*Individuals serving on our cLife Safety Team or in Next Gen Ministries must submit to a Federal Background Check in order to join those Ministry Partnerships.)
