Direction, Not Intention // Wisdom
Most decisions in life aren’t about which is the “right” choice, but which is the “wise” choice. Wisdom goes beyond right and wrong, and illuminates which choice is best based on the complex realities of life. Join us as we seek and gain wisdom that benefits every area of our lives. You will learn the thinking processes that are an effective filter for all your decisions!
Bad decisions made with good intentions are still bad decisions. It’s not intentions that matter; it’s actions. We are what we do and say, not what we intend. Our direction, not intentions, hopes, dreams, prayers, beliefs, intellect, or education, determines our destination. We all end up somewhere in life. Why not end up somewhere on purpose?
Message Notes
Wisdom: Pure, Peace-Loving, Gentle, Considerate, Submissive, Merciful, Impartial, Sincere
Here’s the thing: attaining and applying God’s wisdom doesn’t happen by accident.
“My son, do not forget my teaching, but keep my commands in your heart, for they will prolong your life many years and bring you peace and prosperity. Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart.” Proverbs 3:1-3 NIV
How do we intentionally pursue God’s wisdom in our life?
Here’s what we don’t do—ask ourselves, “Is this the right thing to do?”
Instead, we ask ourselves, “Is this the wise thing to do?”
...knowing my past life experiences?
...knowing my current situation?
...knowing my future dreams and desires?
Getting better results starts with asking better questions.
But asking better questions is just the start. Wisdom is a two-step recipe.
We ask, and then we act.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”
Proverbs 3:5-6 NIV
We submit our will, God straightens our way.
All of us will end up somewhere in life. Why not end up somewhere on purpose?
