Part One // Jars of Clay
Part One
You are weak and foolish.
But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong.
1 Corinthians 1:27
Strength is deceiving.
For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,”[a] made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ.
2 Corinthians 4:6
God’s glory can’t be matched or measured.
“but we have this treasure”
2 Corinthians 4:4
“but we have this treasure in jars of clay”
2 Corinthians 4:7
Most of all, our make up was perfect for him and his plan!
“But we have this treasure in jars of Clay to show that this all surpassing power is from God and not from us.”
2 Corinthians 4:7
Strength is deceiving!
We focus on the Jar rather than the treasure!
“We must focus on the treasure and not the vessel. Paul was not afraid of suffering or trial, because he knew that God would guard the vessel so long as Paul was guarding the treasure.”
Warren Wiersbe
When we are broken, we are not discarded!
“I was but a pen in God’s hand, and what praise is due a pen.”
Richard Baxter
“But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all surpassing power is from God and not from us.”
Weakness is an asset.
“Your ordinariness is not a liability, it is an asset, if you really want God to get the glory.”
John Piper
Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
Matthew 19:26
