Famous Last Words | No Place Like Home!
Jesus, the one who loves us most, used his last breath and his last words to address our deepest needs.
In the final statement of Jesus on the cross we see victory, comfort, example, and access. From the mouth of Christ we have the only power that can get us home and give us hope along the way. We die the way we live. Jesus can get us home safe.
Message Notes
It was now about noon, and darkness came over the whole land until three in the afternoon, for the sun stopped shining. And the curtain of the temple was torn in two. Jesus called out with a loud voice, “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit.” When he had said this, he breathed his last.
The centurion, seeing what had happened, praised God and said, “Surely this was a righteous man.” When all the people who had gathered to witness this sight saw what took place, they beat their breasts and went away. But all those who knew him, including the women who had followed him from Galilee, stood at a distance, watching these things.
Luke 23:44-49
Home has less to do with a location than with who is there. Jesus was going home to where his Father was.
His words to the Father show us:
Intimacy
Trust
Victory
Comfort
Confidence
Example
You never have to worry about anything you have committed to God.
Give all your worries, cares, and anxiety to God because he cares for you.

II Timothy 1:12
